Wayne Arthurs Cup 2009

Ruby Clayton (NW North), Akanksha Puli (Fountain Gate), Codey Gunn (Fountain Gate) and Christopher Cox (Narre Warren) represented the BDTA in the Wayne Arthurs Cup at Kooyong on December 12-13, 2009.  This competition is run by Tennis Victoria for players who are 10 & Under.

Despite a difficult draw, where we had to play last year’s winners (Waverley) in the round-robin stage, our team played fantastic tennis to win their round-robin group comfortably on the Saturday.  They went through to play off for the top four places on Sunday.

Akanksha Puli, Ruby Clayton

In the semi-final, we lost in a close match to the eventual winners, and finished up coming 4th out of 17 regional teams.  This is a fantastic effort by our youngest representative team – congratulations to these 4 young people for playing so well, and representing our association with great spirit and on-court behaviour.  You did us proud!

Wayne Arthurs was present on Sunday afternoon to present certificates to all of the players.
